The first living cell was seen under a microscope by Dutch discoverer Anton Von Leeuwenhoek. Years later as microscope improved, other scientists continued their research further based on the work of Hooke and Leuwenhoek. In 1830, two German scientists Matthias Jacob Schleiden and Theodor Schwann convinced other scientists that all living matter is composed of cells. Their findings are now referred to as Cell Theory or Cell Principle. In 1939, Schleiden and Schwann formulated Cell Theory.
